Trio Perfido in concert
featuring Norman Johnson – guitar , David Stoltz – electric bass & Peter Perfido – drums
The trio’s major inspiration comes from a number of the jazz guitar greats such as Wes Montgomery , Kenny Burrell ,
Grant Green , Pat Martino & Jim Hall. Their repertoire also features a few compositions from some of them as well.
Featuring the soulful and rootsy guitar work of Norman Johnson , the trio’s focus is on a group sound where
understatement is a shared priority. The band’s repertoire will also include a few jazz standards along with compositions
from major jazz composers such as Thelonious Monk & Duke Ellington.
Drummer Peter Perfido currently resides in France and plays primarily in Europe. Peter has played across the USA, Western Canada and Europe and in Algeria (International Festival of Jazz 1987) as well as Romania , Hungary , Spain and Turkey. In 1983 , he travelled to South Korea, Phillipines , Japan , Diego Garcia , Guam and Hawaii as part of a USO Tour. In the last months of the ex-USSR, he toured in Russia and the Ukraine as part of a Music / Theatre joint venture production between Germany & Russia. The list of notable musicians he has shared a stage with is too long to list here.
Guitarist Norman Johnson has three critically acclaimed releases on the Pacific Coast Jazz Label and was on the faculty of the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Johnson moved to Brooklyn and then to Connecticut where he began his music studies.
Bassist David Stoltz is a long time friend of the Allman Brothers Band and was a member of the Dickey Betts Band and Great Southern for four years. He has played with Jaimoe for close to 30 years. David was a frequent guest with Les Paul in NYC on many Monday nights for years.
